Mala Persaud has never been the type of person to be deterred by a challenge. In fact, she looks at every day as an opportunity to make the most of life. From her climb up the ladder to success in her native Guyana to starting from scratch in America, her drive, dedication and determination have always been key to her prosperity in every pursuit.
Driven to Succeed
Nothing is more important to Mala than time spent with her two sons, Mark and Michael.
In Guyana, Mala got her professional start in the banking industry and worked her way to becoming head of the foreign business department at a bank. She was then faced with a crossroad because there wasn’t much further she could take that career. Against all odds, she left a stable job to open her own boutique store, selling high-end clothing, accessories and gifts and establishing a large and loyal clientele. Mala honed her customer service skills and turned the fledgling business into a big success.
Although her business was thriving, Mala wanted to give her two teenage sons the better educational opportunities available in the United States, so they could pursue their own career dreams. “It had long been a dream of mine to move to America and I knew it was the best opportunity for Mark and Michael,” Mala says. “It wasn’t easy starting over in a new country where we didn’t know anyone, but now we couldn’t be happier.” Whether she’s spending quality time with her sons, working out at the gym, following auto racing, volunteering in the community or enjoying the good life in downtown Orlando with friends, Mala’s positive energy and desire to get the most out of life are always on display.
